Healthy Chocolate Spread by Catherine Arnold Nutrition

My daughter loves this chocolate spread, and i love it too! She likes it sandwiched between a whole banana, cut lengthways. I like to spread it on an oatcake, which tastes a bit like a healthy chocolate digestive biscuit!

Raw cacao is ground cocoa beans which, unlike regular cocoa powder, is not heated during the processing and so it retains more nutrient value. Cacao is high in magnesium which is important for energy production, heart health and also helps the body cope with stress. Coconut oil is a superb source of energy and is also good for the gut as it has antimicrobial and antifungal qualities. Tahini is calcium packed and a great source of protein too. The combination of all these amazing ingredients make a perfect afternoon pick-me-up and tastes pretty good too!


1 tbsp raw cacao powder

1 tbsp tahini

1 tbsp raw honey or rice malt syrup or maple syrup

1 tbsp coconut oil


Mash all the ingredients together then enjoy spread on to oatcakes, apple slices, banana or as a healthy ganache on cake. Keeps in a glass container with a lid (such as a jam jar) in the fridge for around 1-2 weeks, although i guarantee it will be devoured within 24 hours!
