I love chocolate, and on a recent ‘sugar detox’ I missed chocolate so much that I had to work out a way to get the taste without the sugar. So this recipe is it! It contains raw cacao, which is an absolute superfood, high in magnesium (great for stress) and rich in anti-inflammatory flavonoids.

The cinammon adds sweetness and supports healthy blood sugar balance as do the nuts which increase the protein content. Think of it in the same way as you would a coffee (especially if you have coffee without sugar!) It’s just a different way of enjoying it, and eventually you may even prefer it this way!

Ingredients:

1 cup of milk of choice (I use unsweetened oat, almond or coconut milk)

2 tsp of raw cacao (cocoa is fine if you don’t have this just make sure its sugar free)

1 square of 100% dark chocolate (Montezuma is a good brand!) – this is optional for those who like it really strong!

1/2 tsp of vanilla extract

Large pinch of ceylon cinnamon

Pinch of ground cloves

Method:

Heat the milk in a pan.

Add all the other ingredients into a good jug blender (nutribullet is a good one!)

Add the hot milk to the blender and whizz up until smooth and frothy!

Pour into a cup, sprinkle with more cinnamon if you like and enjoy!
